In Loving Memory of Vivian Griffin
Vivian Griffin, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026, at her residence at Memory Lane Long Term Care Home.
Vivian was born in Alberta and was one of 12 children. Her mother and father passed away in Calgary, Alberta, and she remained connected to the family she grew up with and the many relationships she built throughout her life.
Vivian married the love of her life, Lionel Earle Griffin, and together they raised their daughter, Barbara Cennon (Griffin). The family resided in Calgary until Lionel’s work with Hiway 9 Express took them to Edmonton, and later to Drumheller, Alberta, where Vivian and her family made their home.
In Drumheller, Vivian managed the local dry cleaners/laundry mat that then led to becoming the manager at Travelodge, where she became a familiar and valued member of the community. She later left the Travelodge to care for her beloved husband during his illness. Lionel passed away in 1987, leaving Vivian to carry on with the strength and love that defined her.
In 1988, Vivian’s family grew as she became a grandmother to Earle Troy Griffin and in 1990
Loni Lee Griffin. Being a grandmother brought her immense joy, and she cherished the years she spent watching her family grow.
Her grandchildren continued to build families of their own. Earle Troy, with his partner Kristen Fiddler, blessed Vivian with great-grandchildren Dominic, Kasia, Eva and Jaxon. Loni-Lee, with her partner Terran Ashby, blessed her with great-grandchildren Emmah & Kloee.
Vivian was also a proud and active member of the Royal Purple in Drumheller. She had a
genuine passion for volunteering, fundraising, and supporting the community she called home. She especially enjoyed traveling with the Royal Purple and making memories along the way. Helping others brought Vivian great joy, and she gave generously of her time and heart to the people around her.
Above all, Vivian will be remembered for her love of family, her caring heart, her generosity, and the many lives she touched through her kindness and service. She leaves behind a family who will forever carry her memory and the love she gave them.
Vivian will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Barbara & partner
Ray Gosselin her grandchildren Earle Troy & partner Kristen Fiddler and Loni-Lee & her
partner Terran Ashby, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends, and all those whose
lives she touched.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 26, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. from Courtney-Winter's Funeral Home.
