Sunset: March 8, 2016 - Drumheller, Alberta It is with great sadness and loss that we announce the passing of this great lady, our Mom, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother at the age of 88 years. The world is now a bit grayer for us. Mom was totally dedicated to her family:
Barbara (John) Gallagher, Dale (Gwen) Morse, Penny Holmen(Ray), Dana (Kathy) Morse. Grandsons: Sean (Heather) Gallagher, Jason (Rachelle) Morse, Travis (Tracy) Morse, Kevin Morse(Mandy), Jon Holmen, Jesse Morse. Granddaughters: Kim Mulgrew, Megan Morse. Great Granddaughters and Grandsons: Evan & Avery Gallagher, Kayla & Daxton Mulgrew, Destiny & Hope Morse, Connor & Autumn Morse, Ariah Holmen. After Mom raised her four children, she went to work at Morse's T.V. in Drumheller alongside her late husband George Morse Jr. until his passing in 1990. Shortly thereafter she retired and worked tirelessly for the next 18-years on her yard, Rainbow Acres, better known as the "Purple House", this is when Mom became "famous". Tourists from around the world toured this very beautiful and unique yard, some coming back year after year, she only asked they sign her guest book. Mom had so many talents. She has been on T.V. twice (July 1995 a series called Get Serious, Associated Films out of B.C., also a T.V. series called Weird Homes) At the age of 65 she took a Welding Course and received her Diploma. In September of 1995 Mom won the Yard Beautification Contest. Now getting tired and in need of a little rest, in October 2008 she moved to Hanna Continuing Care, and six moves later finally making her way back to Homestead Lane of Drumheller Health Centre.
Mom is predeceased by her husband of 45-years George Morse Jr., parents Mildred and Albert "Bert" Hathaway, three brothers Albert, William, and Edward Hathaway, sister Mabel "Mate" Hathaway, granddaughter Shawna Lynn Holmen. A private family service will be held at Courtney-Winters Funeral Home. Our sincere Thanks to Pastor Carlos Calderon.
