Kim Allan Hagel of Drumheller, beloved husband of Kathy Hagel passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026 at the age of 61, after a courageous battle with GBM.

Kim was born in Calgary AB, to Alvena and Leo Hagel in 1965, completing their family of 8 children. In his early school years, he attended Beiseker Community School, followed by a few short school years in Calgary. He left school early to pursue his dream in autobody. Later, venturing to Manitoba he found his lifelong career in trucking. Eventually he made his way back home to Alberta. For the next few years, he employed jobs from running cattle to gas well testing and working for the Village of Irricana. Somehow life always brought him back to trucking. Cows, asphalt, humalite, Sulphur, gravel and eventually that turned into hauling 3 young kids around. Kim met the love of his life in that small Village of Irricana and soon went on to marry her in July of 1994 and become the most amazing dad to her 2 children. They later went on to complete their family with the addition of another daughter in May of 1996. All 3 girls were raised in Irricana and later Mom and Dad moved to Drumheller, where he lived the remainder of his life.

He devoted 32 incredible years to his wife and kids and eventually to multiple grandchildren. Being the pillar and showing his family and friends what true dedication to who you love should look like. Dad will be immensely missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

To celebrate dads lifelong love for classic cars; family and friends are encouraged to drive their vintage vehicles or hot-rods to his service.

Kim is predeceased by parents Alvena and Leo Hagel, sisters Marlene Vanhee and Kathleen Hagel as well as his brother Edwin Hagel.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Kathy Hagel, daughters Kayla Hearns (Tony), Amanda Norman (Guy) and Allison Lowen (Carter). 11 cherished grandchildren: Nevaeh, Adeline, Quinn, Everly, Lainey, Millie, Tate, Lenix, Hadley, Zaiden and Kailex. Brothers: Bryan Hagel (Cheryl), Bernard Hagel (Fay), Eldon Hagel (Sue) and sister Val Thompson. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Kim’s life will be held on Friday August 21st, 2026 at the Beiseker Community Hall @ 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance or Drumheller Area Health Foundation ( Acute) in Kim’s memory.
