Remembering Dorothy Joan Merritt
November 29, 1932 ~ January 19, 2012 Dot was born in Munson in 1932 where her father Harry Hanson had established the family farm. Soon after his death, the family moved to Drumheller. It was in Drumheller where Dot completed school. Soon after she decided to"see the world" and she joined the Royal Canadian Navy as one of the first Wrens. In the navy she met her lifelong partner Don. They moved back to the Drumheller Valley in 1961 and soon established one of Drumheller's most successful businesses.
Over the years, Dot was involved with many organizations; the Curling Club, the Golf Course, the Figure Skating Club, the Legion and the Elks Club.
