Chris CHARMONT Chris passed away suddenly on November 14, 2010 as a result of a tragic accident in Mexico. Chris was born on September 6, 1969. He spent most of his growing up years in Nordegg. He was raised by his doting parents Madge and Jean.Surrounded by good friends Duke, Sam, Gord and Bob, he lived a childhood filled with adventure and excitement. Chris loved to be outdoors hiking, fishing, dirtbiking, skiing or any new experience that promised a boost of adrenaline. He would try anything once and had the ability to convince others to do the same. Chris decided to go into electrical and instrumentation trades, completing training at Red Deer College and SAIT. Later he became very respected in his field for his knowledge and abilities. He married his soulmate Terra (nee Bartzis) in April 1999. A year later he was thrilled with the birth of Megan, daddy's little girl. 18 months later John arrived, his pride and joy. Chris will always be remembered as a generous and devoted husband, father, brother, friend and a dedicated member of the community, especially Drumheller Minor Hockey. He enjoyed sharing life's pleasures with others, often entertaining with juicy steaks and homemade wines. He especially loved sharing these joys with his children, taking them on trips and exposing them to new experiences without ever a thought of the sacrifices on his time or pocketbook. Chris was happiest when able to help others attain their dreams, always doing so with a quiet and unassuming generosity. He loved offering his time at the rink to manage John's team and use his energy to encourage and coach the boys on the team both on and off the ice. His integrity, meticulous nature and natural technical talents earned him a respected reputation with his employer EnCana. Co-workers knew him for his uncompromising commitment to safety, getting the job done right, and taking the time to mentor others to do the same. Chris is survived by his loving wife Terra (nee Bartzis), cherished daughter Megan, mother Madge Charmont, brother Ron Petersen, sister Deb Moore, inlaws Jim Bartzis (Kat), Heather Bartzis (David), Alicia Bartzis (John), Tasha Shapka (Trevor, Jenn and Chris), extended family, Drumheller Atom Raptors hockey teams and many dear family friends. He is predeceased by his father Jean and his son John who passed the same day and is making the journey with him. A celebration of life was held in Drumheller at Church of the Nazarene followed by burial in Nordegg. In lieu of flowers, donations to Make-A-Wish Canada may be made in Chris' memory. Forever in our hearts.
