Ben was born on July 29, 1930 at Winchester Springs, Ontario he would join a family of two sisters and four brothers, being the sixth child out of fourteen. Ben left the farm at an early age as a labourer, and he joined the army at the age of nineteen. After training at Esquimalt, BC he was transferred to the Korean War in 1951. After having served four years Ben received an Honorable Discharge.
In September 1956, Ben moved to Alberta for a few years, before he returned to Ontario where he met his wife Marie and this union was blessed with two children, Steven and Theresa.
In early 1969, Ben returned once again to Alberta where he joined the Canadian Utilities on a line crew. He also worked for Patterson Plumbing and later on worked as a labourer for Highway 9 Transport, until Ben's health started to deteriorate and he was forced into an early retirement.
Ben was predeceased by his mom and dad, one sister and four brothers and his special friend Doreen Malkin. Left to mourn his loss is his son Steven (Wenda) of Strathmore, AB; two grandchildren: Jervus and Julia; his daughter Theresa (Todd) of Smith Falls, Ontario; his sisters: Lois of Kemptville, Ontario,Ester of Brooklin, Ontario and Janet of Leduc, AB; his brothers: Ron (Elaine) of Cardinal, Ontario, Neil of Brampton, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Ben's Comrades at the Drumheller Legion who are part of his extended family will miss him greatly. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, December 4th, at 2:00 P.M. from Courtney- Winters Funeral Chapel, 199 2nd Street West, Drumheller, Alberta.
