Rose Harper of Drumheller, Alberta, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at the age of 91.
Rose was born on August 10, 1934, in Wayne, Alberta. An only child, she cherished many fond memories of climbing the hills and exploring near Starmine. After finishing school in Drumheller, Rose married Dave Harper on July 4, 1953.
Together they raised three children: Andrew, Janet, and Cheryl.
During her working years, Rose was a devoted mother and homemaker. She also helped run the family business, Harper's Tire, which is now in its fourth generation. Many treasured family moments were spent at the cabin at Little Fish Lake.
In retirement, Dave and Rose enjoyed travelling as snowbirds to their winter home in Yuma, Arizona. For more than 25 years, they built lasting friendships and created wonderful memories. They also travelled to Cuba and the Cayman Islands.
Rose supported Dave in his involvement with the Drumheller Lions Club and was actively engaged in cooking for barbecues and fundraisers - she was known for making the best Ukrainian cabbage rolls. She was also a member of the Drumheller Red Hatters. Rose enjoyed writing in her journal, playing bingo, completing crossword puzzles, and listening to music. In her younger years, she even played a bit of guitar and mandolin. In later years, she was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on her beloved Toronto Blue Jays and Calgary Flames.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Dave, in 2015, and her daughter, Janet, in December 2025.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Andrew (Brenda); her daughter Cheryl (Joe); her grandchildren Michelle (Jordan), Jordan (Melissa), Kyle, and Taylor; and her treasured great-grandchildren Dylan, Colby, Tate, Alison, and Isabelle.
There will be no formal service. A small family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunshine/Hillview Lodges or to a charity of one's choice.
