Richard McComb Obituary

McComb, Richard Bud Wayne

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Wayne McComb on January 28, 2025 at the age of 82

Born & raised to parents Robert and Marie       (Johnston) McComb in Shoal Lake Manitoba on July 26, 1942.

His busy farm childhood was shared with sisters Grace & Patricia and brothers Bob, Orval & Ken.

In 1955 the Family relocated to Creighton, Sask where Wayne graduated from Hapnot Collegiate in Flin Flon.

After graduation Wayne enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was part of the military police. He served from 1962 to 1967 when he was honorably discharged.

It was due to his service that he moved on to a career at the Drumheller Penitentiary where he worked for 30 years.

On June 10th 1972 Wayne married the love of his life, Geraldine Winslow, and started a family in 1974 with their first born Bradley and in 1977 with their daughter Cathy.

Wayne spent a majority of his free time volunteering, first as a cub scout leader then as a Navy League officer where he was nicknamed  "The Old Man". He was also an avid bowler involved with the local bowling leagues.

His retirement up until 2006 was spent mostly by his wife's side - but he did sneak off occasionally for a cup of coffee or golfing.

Wayne volunteered for the Drumheller Dragons hockey team from 2003 to 2023 as official scorekeeper. Hockey in the winter and golfing in the summer were his passions.

Wayne was predeceased by his parents Robert and Marie McComb, wife Geraldine McComb,  brother Orval McComb, and sister Patricia Coutts.

He will be greatly missed by his family; son Brad McComb (Jenni Hartt), daughter Cathy Dunlop (David Dunlop), his grand children; Shayna, Jacob, Connor, Brooke and Landon and his great grandchildren; Theseus and Toni

along with his siblings; Grace, Robert and Ken and many close friends.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Drumheller Cancer Center.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
