Rhona Ann McIver

Rhona Ann McIver died on February 26th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends at Drumheller continuing care.

At six months, Rhona and her brother Alistair (Scottie), and war bride mother Anne travelled from Scotland to join father Alex McIver in Wayne, Alberta.

Rhona attended Newcastle school and later St. Anthony’s school.  She started working at an early age at the Corner Café.  At the age of 18 Rhona accompanied her mother to Scotland to visit relatives and with a new friend toured Europe.  After working in California and Banff, she settled in Drumheller where she worked at the Drumheller Mail as a press operator.  She married Jim Goudy and together they established Sun Valley Farms.  They participated in Farmers Markets all over southern Alberta.  Many young people spent their summers working there.  She loved the outdoors whether romping in the hills with her dogs, rafting down the river with family and friends, or just being with people.  Rhona was a member of the C.W.L. and involved with Grace House  from its beginning.

Rhona leaves to mourn her niece Anna (Sean) Murphy, their children Pearce, Keira, her niece Sarah McIver (Brandon Vallet), their baby Benhson, nephew John (Kendra) McIver, sister in law Maria McIver, step daughter Tracey-Lee (Jim) Shannon, Jessie , Melissa.

Rhona was predeceased by her parents Ann & Alex McIver, her brother Alistair, Jim Goudy and step son Greg Goudy.

Prayer Vigil will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 7 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11A.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Lukas Drapal as celebrant, interment to follow in the Drumheller Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Drumheller Area Health Foundation (Palliative Care or Recreation), or the charity of donor’s choice.
