Randy Stephen Smith

Randy Stephen Smith, of Craigmyle, Alberta, peacefully crossed over on December 21st, 2023. Randy was born on August 22, 1948 in Drumheller, Alberta and was the youngest son of May and Bill Smith who resided on a farm near Craigmyle. While Randy loved being on the farm, he had a wanderlust and passion for travelling abroad. Although his travels led him to several different places around the globe, he found the most joy exploring Central and South America during the winter months.

As an enthusiastic entrepreneur, Randy thrived on the excitement of operating his small heavy equipment construction company. Randy took great pride in maintaining the esthetic of his yard and enjoyed tending to it in his spare time. He also maintained a large garden each summer with his daughter, Colleen. In his later years, a few of his favorite pastimes included observing the owls and other wildlife in his yard, working on small creative building projects at home, visiting with friends over coffee in Hanna and taking frequent road trips into Calgary to visit friends and loved ones.

Randy had a lively personality and was a reliable, loving father, partner and charismatic friend who many could count on for love, support and a good laugh. He will be greatly missed. Randy is survived by his daughter, Colleen, his partner, Christine, several nieces and nephews and many close friends who are like family. Celebration of life details for Randy are TBA.
