Paul Ainscough Obituary

Paul Ainscough, a long-time and deeply cherished resident of Drumheller, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026, surrounded by love.

Paul made Drumheller his home in 1975, where he and his wife Pat founded Riverside Pharmacy, a business that became a cornerstone of the community for decades. His commitment to Drumheller went far beyond his work. Paul gave generously of his time and energy, volunteering with numerous local organizations and serving his community as Mayor for a time. He believed deeply in community, service and showing up for others.

Above all else, Paul was a devoted husband. He shared nearly 60 years of marriage with his beloved wife Pat, a partnership built on love, loyalty and mutual respect. Together they built a life grounded in family and friendship.

Paul was a proud father to four children, Tim Ainscough (Teresa), Ray Ainscough (Deanna), Michelle Holden (Trevor) and Martina Morrison (Cam). Paul was also a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren, Dayton Ainscough (Lindsay), Kayla Ainscough, Karyna Ainscough (Helaman), Brandon Holden, Aiden Holden (Paige), Mya Ainscough (Mike) and Conner Ainscough. And he was a delighted Great-grandfather to Caius, Aurelio and a step great-grandfather to Hunter. Paul had a large extended Family and is leaving behind sisters, brother in laws, sister in laws and a large group of cousins, nieces and nephews whom he all loved very deeply. Family meant everything to him, and his legacy lives on through each generation.

He also leaves behind more friends that could ever be counted – friendships formed through work, community service and shared passions, and a life well lived.

Paul had a deep love for all animals, especially horses, and horse racing was one of his greatest joys. The races brought him excitement, camaraderie and countless happy memories.

Paul will be remembered for his generosity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the people and place he loved. His smile could light up any room. Drumheller and all of us were better for having had him in our lives, and his absence will be felt deeply.

A Celebration of life gathering will be held at the badlands Community Facility January 31/26 from 12:00-3:00pm.
