Patty Downard of Drumheller, beloved wife of Don Downard, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the age of 78 years old.
Patty was born on October 29, 1947, at Powell River, B.C.. At the age of 5 years old, Patty and her family moved to Chester, England. As an adult, Patty went to School for Nursing (Registered Nurse) and started her 40-year long career. In 1973 she moved to Canada where she had her daughter Michelle. She continued her career in various locations throughout Alberta and B.C. In Patty’s spare time she became a mixologist and worked in several Legions and Army & Navy locations between both provinces affectionately being known as ½ pint. Through the years Patty’s hobbies became gardening and English Football. Her favorite team was Liverpool, which she was very passionate about. She also gained a love of the outdoors with her husband Don and family with activities such as camping, motorbikes and kayaking. Patty was beloved to all those that knew her, no matter the situation. Patty also has close relationships with her sisters Donna, Pauline & older brother Ray. Although they lived so far away, they kept in close contact through her life.
Besides her loving husband Don, Patty is survived by her daughter Michelle (Curtis), step daughter Melanie, grandchildren Jay (Ryley), Kristian, Emma, Kaden and Riley, sisters Donna (Dave), Pauline (Jimmy) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families in England.
Patty was predeceased by her parents Mary and Tom Bellis as well as her brother Ray.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 2, 2026, at Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. (199 2nd Street West, Drumheller, Alberta).
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Don and Patty’s home at a later date with details to come for late spring. Patty will be interred at the Drumheller Cemetery after the Celebration of Life service.
