It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Nancy.

Nancy was born in Stettler, Alberta on November 4, 1938, to Jim & Irene Slifka.  She was the oldest of three children.  She had one sister Marj (Jim) Deering of Trochu, and one brother Johnny that predeceased Nancy in 1975.  Nancy went to Botha School from grades one through twelve.

Mom met Lawrence Hodge in 1956 and they got married in June of 1959.  They moved onto the family farm and started their life together.  They raised five children on the farm, David (Shelley), Lloyd (Mary), Roger, Barbara (Blaine) Mepham, and Donna (Ron) Nelson.  As the family grew she had 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, she was very proud of all of them as she watched them grow.

Mom and Dad retired off the farm in 1990 and moved to Morrin where Mom resided up to the day she passed.  They enjoyed many winters in Phoenix after New Years until the passing of Lawrence in April of 2002.

Mom enjoyed many things, from raising Corgi dogs, to her flowers, watching the Dragons and Oilers play hockey, the Blue Jays’ ball games, and evenings playing Bingo and card games.

Mom loved it when the family all got together for meals and she would have her house decorated for every season.  Nancy took pride having her yard decorated for all the neighbors to enjoy.  She will be forever loved and missed by all.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Morrin Community Hall, Morrin, Alberta.  Interment to follow at the Morrin Cemetery.  If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.  Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
