Margaret Anne Swayda
April 20, 1944 ~ May 19, 2020
Margaret Anne Swayda of Drumheller, beloved wife of the late Garry Swayda passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020 at the Drumheller Health Centre at the age of 76 years.
Margaret was born on April 20, 1944 in Winnipeg, MB to parents William Ernest Newson and Annie McDonald Boag. She enjoyed a happy childhood full of travel, music, books, and she loved to read. Margaret graduated from the University of Fredericton with a degree in teaching and made that her career for many years. Margaret’s versatility allowed her to be utilized as a substitute teacher for the majority of her career. She was able to teach kindergarten to grade 12, every subject, in English or French. Margaret met her true love Garry Swayda in Grande Cache, Alberta and the two were married on August 29, 1975. In 2002 they moved to Nacmine, AB where Margaret taught for a few years before beginning her 15 year career as a cashier with Freson Bros. Margaret loved her job, her coworkers and her customers. Anyone who went through her till knew how much she respected everyone and enjoyed their moments to chat.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Garry in January, 2020, and her parents.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory, one son James (daughter-in-law Amberlee) Swayda, grandchildren, Hunter, Harrison, Antoine, Gabriel and Lily.
There will be a service for Margaret held at a later date. Courtney-Winter's Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
