Joseph Frank Csonka
May 27, 1943 ~ July 16, 2025
Mr. Joseph Frank Csonka, long-time resident of Morrin, Alberta passed away after a brief illness on July 16, 2025 with his son by his side at the Drumheller Health Centre, Longterm Care/Pioneer.
Joe was born May 27, 1943 in Budapest, Hungary to Lajos and Mamika Csonka. Joe was one of three children in the family, he and his sisters Julika, Llona. He took all of his schooling in Budapest. He joined the Hungarian Army at the age of 16, which took him on some journeys. He spent some time in Italy, just having a holiday and enjoying life abroad. Joe immigrated to Canada in the early 70’s, landing in Calgary. Joe worked various jobs, mechanic, plumbing, carpentry and lastly transport with Hi Way 9. Joe could fix anything, he was a real handyman.
Joe had one son Robert, whom he adored. He made sure Robert had every opportunity in life. Joe shared many stories of his youth and his life with Robert, many laughs were had. Joe was very social, he loved to visit and have some spirits.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, sister Llona, the mother of his son Elsa.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory, son Robert, his greatest joy, his grandchildren Oaklynn, Jackson, and Lakeyn. His sister Julika and niece Tunde both of Budapest and numerous other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service for Joe will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Bethany Lutheran Brethren Church, Morrin, Alberta.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
