Obituary for Jean Douglas Pennycook Warkentin
July 9, 1927 – October 15, 2025
Jean Douglas Pennycook Warkentin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at the age of 98.
Jean was born on July 9, 1927, in Ompah, Ontario. She later made Drumheller, Alberta her lifelong home, where she and her husband, Nick Warkentin, built a full and joyful life together. Nick, who was born in Melitopol, Russia on October 14, 1922, predeceased her after many wonderful years of marriage.
Jean worked for many years as a bookkeeper and accountant for several Drumheller businesses, where her attention to detail and warm professionalism earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike. Following her retirement, Jean and Nick enjoyed many peaceful and happy years on their acreage outside Drumheller, tending to their home and sharing time with friends and family.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jenine; grandson, Tyler; and great-grandsons, Carter and Anson. Her kindness, sense of humor, and steady love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Jean’s long and meaningful life.
The family wishes to thank all who shared in Jean’s journey and memories over the years.
