James Weymark Obituary

In Loving Memory

James Henry Weymark (1938–2025)

James Henry Weymark, born on November 4, 1938, in Drumheller, Alberta, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, in Red Deer, Alberta. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Harry lived a life full of love, hard work, and appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Harry was predeceased by his father, Henry Thomas Weymark (1973), his beloved wife, Juanita Weymark (1997), and his sister, Arlene Bertamini (2018). He is survived by his son, Martyn Weymark and his wife Sandra; twin daughters, Lisa Weymark (Dave Lang), Lori Weymark and Dave Da Silva; his cherished grandsons, Mitchel James (Claire), Jared Thomas (Ronnie), and Jonas David Weymark Lang. He is also survived by his sister, Anne Samuel.

Dad found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved the changing seasons of the Drumheller Valley, where he spent his childhood swimming and fishing in the Red Deer River. His passion for fishing began at Pine Lake, using bamboo rods bought by his Granny Weymark, where he mastered the art of cleaning and filleting fish. A proud tradesman and respected plumber, dad was always ready for a project, bringing dedication and skill to everything he did.

An enthusiastic supporter of the Drumheller Dragons and a regular at Dinosaur Downs Racetrack, dad loved cheering on his team and watching car races. His daily ritual at 4 o’clock included enjoying a couple of shots of bourbon with cheezies and pepperoni. He looked forward to receiving tomato plants from Ross Langford and spending time with lifelong friends Don Maxwell, Joe DeMott, and Eugene Donais. A man of deep roots, dad often visited the Weymark homestead at Millerfield to reflect on his family’s history.

Dad was an honest and simple man whose love for his family left an enduring legacy. “A Dad leaves his mark in the world through the love he gives his children.” His memory will live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him.
