Gloria Vickerage
November 13, 1948 – April 15, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Vickerage on April 15, 2026.
Gloria lived a life marked by courage, compassion, and fierce advocacy for others. She devoted herself to standing beside those too often overlooked, including children with learning differences, troubled youth, people trying to rebuild their lives, and others whom the world too easily dismissed. She was a tireless champion for the vulnerable and a woman who never turned away from injustice.
If something was wrong, Gloria stepped toward it. If someone needed defending, she raised her voice. She lived with conviction, passion, and a deep sense of purpose.
She was spontaneous, spiritual, curious, and brave. Her spirituality inspired her to keep searching, questioning, and exploring both herself and the world around her. That search took her across the globe, including Peru, India, Wales, and beyond, always in pursuit of meaning, connection, and understanding.
To her family, Gloria was more than all of the qualities that made her admired by others. She was a beloved mother and her sons’ greatest champion. She believed in them loudly, stubbornly, sometimes blindly, but always wholeheartedly. Her love was fierce, enduring, and unforgettable.
In recent years, dementia slowly took parts of her from her family and from herself. Watching such a strong woman face a battle she could not overcome was heartbreaking. But that struggle does not define the fullness of her life or the legacy she leaves behind.
Gloria will be remembered as a fighter, a teacher, an advocate, a seeker, and a powerful voice for those who needed one most.
With her passing, it is now her family’s turn to speak for her as loudly as she always spoke for them.
As she surrendered to her final battle, we hope she found the peace she so richly deserved.
Gloria is survived by her husband, John Parsons; her sons, Matthew Anthony Nurse and Miles Ainsley Nurse; and her grandsons, Tristan Nurse and Noah Nurse.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
