Gilbert (Bert) Osborne Rides Off into the Sunset
Gilbert (Bert) Osborne, 68, of East Coulee, AB passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at Drumheller Hospital with family by his side, on Sunday June 15th. After a life lived to the fullest, a true cowboy through and through. Born on January 02,1957 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bert embodied the spirit of the West, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he met through his many passions and talents.
From the roar of the arena to the strum of a guitar, Bert was a man of remarkable versatility. He first made a name for himself as a rodeo cowboy, fearlessly riding broncs, and captivating crowds with his grit and determination. The rodeo circuit wasn't just a sport for him; it was a way of life, forging lifelong friendships and countless memories under the vast prairie sky.
Beyond the chutes, Bert's artistic soul shone brightly through his music. A talented musician, he could often be found with a guitar in hand, sharing his heartfelt songs and captivating audiences with his rich voice. Whether around a campfire or on a small stage, his melodies told stories of love, loss, and the open road, resonating deeply with all who listened.
His creativity extended to his hands as well, as a gifted artist. He had a keen eye for beauty and a talent for expressing it, whether through painting, wood working, drawing, or other mediums. His art reflected his love for the Western landscape, its wildlife, and the characters who inhabited it, leaving behind a legacy of beauty for his family and friends to cherish.
When he wasn't pursuing his artistic endeavors or the thrill of the rodeo, Bert was a dedicated and skilled construction worker. His strong work ethic and expertise helped build countless structures, leaving a tangible mark on the communities he served. He took pride in his craft, always ensuring every job was done with precision and care.
But above all his accomplishments, Bert was a devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Dianne Hogan (Osborne), who was his steadfast partner through every adventure. He leaves behind his beloved children Dylan Stalker, Dustin Dianocky and his wife Chelsi, stepson's Trevor Hogan (Jamie-Marie), Jamie Hogan (Jessica), his loving grandchildren, Nolan Dianocky and Atlas Dianocky, his step-grandchildren Myell Major, Alaura and Ashlin Blaker and a wide circle of beloved friends and extended family, including many nieces and nephews, who will dearly miss his fun-filled shenanigans and music, his laugh, his captivating stories, and his unwavering loyalty. Survived by his loving mother Gladys Osborne, his brother Guy Osborne and his wife Wendy, his sister Gay and her husband Larry, Linda Stacey his sister-in-law, Donna his sister-in-law and her husband Jim Robertson and Jim his brother-in-law and his wife Susan Stacey. Bert is predeceased by his dad George Osborne, father-in-law Ray Stacey, mother-in-law Doreen Stacey and his sister-in-law Cheryl Osborne. He will be missed by his loyal, beloved dog, Porter.
Bert taught us the importance of embracing life with enthusiasm, pursuing our passions with gusto, and cherishing the people we love. He rode hard, played hard, and loved even harder. Though he has taken his final ride, the echoes of his music, the beauty of his art, and the memories of his boundless spirit will live on forever in our hearts.
A celebration of Bert's life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 2 p.m. at the East Coulee Community Association Hall.
