Ethel Margaret Matilda Day

Day, Ethel Margaret of Drumheller.

Jeff's beloved wife and partner of 72 years passed away on September 11, 2023 just 6 days short of her 94th birthday.

Lovingly remembered by daughter Suzanne (Terry) Vermunt, son Francis; three grandchildren - Alexandra (Jim) Martin, Joanne Vermunt, and Jon (Arne) Vermunt; 2 great grandchildren - Mitchell Vermunt and Stevie Vermunt and 1 great, great granddaughter, Casey.

Ethel grew up in rural Somerset England during the second world war. She volunteered in the post war British Army before marrying Jeff in 1951. 

Jeff and Ethel arrived to Canada in 1958 and started their own construction company.

Ethel worked her life as a skilled construction labourer alongside Jeff.  She could singlehandedly shingle a roof or frame up a wall, and handled the company logistics.

At home, Ethel was an accomplished seamstress. She made countless quilts for family, friends and donation to women's shelters. She completed in excess of seventy cross stitched pictures which adorn our walls as dearly treasured keepsakes.

Wife, Mum, Nanny and Gran-nan- always loved and never forgotten.
