Obituary for Elizabeth Klassen Siemens

Elizabeth Klassen Siemens passed away April 7, 2025, at Hanna Alberta Long Term Care and into the presence of her precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Born October 15, 1925, at Rosental, Ukraine to Henry and Katharina Klassen. She came together with her Parents and 3 older siblings to Canada, at 1 year of age in 1926. She grew up on the family farm and attended public school in the Munson area. She attended a Mennonite family fellowship, meeting in homes. Later, she attended a Bible School in Gem, Alberta. Beth worked as a housekeeper in Drumheller until she married John Siemens October 15, 1944.They lived in East Coulee, welcoming 4 sons, while John worked at the Atlas Coal Mine until 1952 when they moved to the family farm at Munson. They welcomed one more son and 2 daughters to fill their quiver! In 1968 they moved to Drumheller where they finished raising their family. They attended First Baptist Church for many years. Beth enjoyed her Mothering role, homemaking, and managing an efficient/thrifty household. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, baking, crocheting and reading. After her husband John’s stroke, they moved to Maple Ridge Manor. After his passing, she moved to Sunshine and Hillview Lodge, eventually moving to Hanna Long Term Care due to mobility issues. Although losses of eyesight and hearing restricted some enjoyments of life. Her mind remained sharp, and she loved her visits and phone calls with family and friends. She was always positive and encouraging. Her Christian faith remained central to her life and was a testimony and encouragement to all.

Beth was predeceased by her parents; Siblings Hertha (Jake) Doerksen, Martha (Aaron) Willms, Henry (Katie) Klassen, Helen (Jake) Siemens, Hilda (Harvey) Rowe; husband John 2004; son Doug 2021; Granddaughter Christine O’Brien 2016; granddaughter Jennifer Siemens 1999; son-in-law John Affleck 2012, great granddaughter Allyn Church, 2002, and great granddaughter Hadlee Englot 2012.

Beth is survived by over 135 family including spouses. Doug’s wife Janis, children (Steve O’Brien), Gayle  (Roger) Church, Susan (Trevor) Woodford, Steve (Julia), Jennie (Jason) Berge; Jim (Jacquie), children Paula (Colin) Davies, Shelley (Murray) Meldrum, Trevor (Colette);  John (Barb)  children Colette (Michael) Pettis, Carla (Noel) Wilson, Tony (Vicki); Ed (Norma), children Wendy (Dean) Holland, Kristen (Dave) Tremblay; Ray (Alexia), children Jared (Bri), Alannah (Steve) Turcott: Marlene Affleck, children Melissa, Jonathan (Mia), Michelle, Catherine (Daniel) Moyer; Aileen (Ed) Jackson, children Denise, Nikki (Robbie) Englot, and Sean.

Surviving Beth are 54 great Grandchildren/spouses, 17 great-great Grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Irngard, Donna, and brother-in-law Ben Siemens.

Interment at Drumheller Cemetery.
