Eileena Mae Litwin (Known as Mae), born on May 25, 1940, in Bengough, Saskatchewan, Canada, passed away peacefully in her bed after a long battle with dementia on August 25, 2023, in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.
Mae was the daughter of Herbert and Hazel Hanson, and the beloved wife of Harry Litwin,; whom she met while running the Boundary Bell Café in Saskatchewan in the early 90’s. Mae was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Lloyd, Harry and Roy, and her stepdaughter.
Mae was well known wherever she went. She loved her cats, gardening, having a good cup of coffee, and later in life raising hell for the nurses at long term care. She also had a fond admiration for birds (loons in particular) and the many wild animals she would see in the country. But most of all she loved her Harry, who she married in Drumheller in 1995. They lived in Cookson for some time and then began a life of adventure moving many times to many different places between Alberta and Saskatchewan before settling on a quiet little farm outside of Craigmyle, Alberta. There she had her garden, her cats, her coffee, and her love. Mae and Harry were inseparable until the difficult decision to move her into long term care was made due to her declining health.
Mae is survived by her loving husband Harry, her siblings Ruth (Evan), Albert (Shirley), her children Kathy (Roger), Debbie (Marvin), Twyla (Trevor), Gerry (Trish),and Myron (Diane), and her grandchildren Tina (Jeff), Tyrone (Alex), Kaylee, Sheldon (Carol), Sharon (Andrew), Scott, Addison, Carla (Kyle) Odin, Raiden, Curtis (Marie), Sasha (Jamie), Brett (Donald), Kelli (Adam), and many more loving family members.
Mae was a good mother and wife, and her spark, quick wit, thoughtfulness and loving heart will be missed by so many.
The family will be holding a private function at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Courtnjye-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.
