Duane ‘BJ’ Dennis Bjorgan of Drumheller AB, beloved husband of the late Shirley Ann Bjorgan, passed away peacefully after a short illness on 30 June 2025 at the age of 75 years.
Duane was born in Beechy, Saskatchewan and raised in Drumheller, Alberta where he met and married the love of his life Shirley, before moving to Princess Alberta where they excitedly adopted their two children Jamie and Jodie, they then moved to the Crowsnest Pass for work and to raise their family before returning to Drumheller. In his early days BJ enjoyed his horses and spending time with friends. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he served as President of the Bellevue Branch #19 for multiple terms. He actively tried to give back to the communities which he lived through being active in service groups such as the Lions and Kinsmen Clubs of Drumheller and Blairmore Ab. BJ was a long serving member of the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Department where he received an Exemplary Service Medal. In his later life BJ enjoyed watching the Blue Jays play, regardless of wins and losses, and visiting with the guys from work to set up his fantasy football teams. Throughout everything BJ had a special spot for his kids and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Duane is survived by his Daughter Jodie Bjorgan of Calgary, son Jamie (Sarah) Bjorgan of the Crowsnest Pass. Grandchildren Hunter, Hayden, Haylie, Luken, Brinley, Jax, and Jude. Brother Floyd (Denis) Bjorgan of Vernon BC nephew Brandon and niece Brianna.
Besides his loving wife Duane was predeceased by his parents and stepparents, Jim (Chris) Bjorgan, and Dorothy (John) Kiraly.
A celebration of life is being planned and will be announced accordingly.
