In loving memory of Dolores DeMott (Winslow) August 28, 1934 – September 12, 2025.
With deep sadness we share the news of the passing of our mother, Dolores DeMott. Dolores lived her life in Drumheller, generously serving her family, her friends, and her community. Dolores was the oldest of six children, who were all born and raised in Drumheller. Though recently she was not able to communicate easily, Dolores surely missed her husband, Joe, who died only two months earlier. The two of them established and partnered in operating DeMott Floors in Drumheller. Through the years, they were found together on the curling rink and at various events around town. They could be seen cruising in their 1961 convertible Cadillac to attend vintage car shows, which they enjoyed almost as much as the ice cream that inevitably followed. In later years, they would navigate the halls of the Drumheller hospital together, where Dolores received care for dementia. Joe would connect his scooter to Dolores’s wheelchair, and they would visit patients and friends. This never failed to get lots of smiles from everyone, especially mom.
Dolores is survived by her sister Velma Dunlop (Brooks, AB), her three children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren: Wayne and Charlene (Victoria, BC) Rebecca, Rachel, Samuel, and Briony. Jeff and Kathy DeMott (Drumheller) Kristyne, Karen (DeMott) and Glenn DeVoogd (Long Beach, California) Skylar and Josef.
The family is forever grateful to the team at the Drumheller Health Center, Continuing Care, who attended to Dolores with friendship and respect for the last many years.
