Diane Potvin Obituary

In Loving Memory of Diane Elizabeth Potvin

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved Diane Elizabeth Potvin, who went peacefully to be with the Lord on June 25, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by the love of her family.

Diane was born on May 21, 1961, in Cowansville, Quebec, to Maurice and Doris Potvin. From the very beginning, she was a gift, a bright light whose life would touch countless hearts in ways words can hardly express.

She is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Ross (Karen), Stephen (Joyce), Sylvia, Tisa, and Lisa; her sister-in-law, Cathy; and by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. Each of them carries a piece of Diane’s love and the joy she so freely gave.

Diane was welcomed into Heaven by those who went before her: her father, Maurice; her mother, Doris; her brother, Rodney; nephew, Ryan; and great niece, Maia

Born with Down syndrome, Diane spent her life quietly defying the limitations others once thought she would have. She met life’s challenges with courage, determination, and a spirit that could never be dimmed. She was a champion bowler, the undisputed Yahtzee Queen, and a devoted lover of board games. Whether she was dancing to her favorite songs, singing from her heart, colouring, or enjoying a cup of decaf coffee and chocolate pudding, Diane found joy in the simple things and invited everyone around her to do the same.

To know Diane was to know unconditional love. She had a contagious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, a stubborn streak that made us smile, and a determination that inspired everyone who knew her. She didn’t just bring joy into a room, she became the joy in it.

Diane was our sunshine girl. She taught us that life isn’t measured by accomplishments or possessions, but by the love we share, the laughter we create, and the moments we spend together. She reminded us to slow down, hold our loved ones close, and find beauty in the ordinary. Though our hearts are broken and there will forever be an empty place at our family gatherings, we take comfort in knowing that Diane’s light does not end here. It lives on in every memory, every laugh, every game of Yahtzee, every song sung a little louder, and every act of love done in her honor.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Drumheller Alliance Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Drumheller Alliance Church in Diane’s memory.

Our sunshine girl may no longer walk beside us, but her light will forever shine within us. Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever missed.
