Derrick John Edward Cullum
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Derrick John Edward Cullum on December 28, 2025, at the age of 27.
Derrick was born on June 3, 1998, in Drumheller, Alberta, and grew up in Munson. He attended school in Morrin, where he graduated and formed many lifelong friendships.
Derrick is lovingly remembered by the love of his life and wife, Brayden; his siblings Donovan (Katie) and Lexandra (Mac); his father-in-law Doug and his fiancé Deanna; his sister-in-law Cersten and brother-in-law Nicholas; his Auntie Connie, his Uncle Donnie (Chrystal-Lynn); and Aunties Kim (Paul), Shirley (Steve), Janice (Lauren), Lilia, and Jodel, along with many cousins, a niece and nephew, extended family members, and dear friends.
Derrick will be remembered for his heart of gold, his kindness, and the way he always put others before himself. He loved his family deeply, adored his wife, and cherished their dog, Trini. He found joy in hunting, fishing, hockey, lacrosse, camping, traveling, and being on the water. He also loved the country life, farming, quiet sunsets, and old country music, which reflected his old-soul heart. Derrick was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, pause a hunting trip to help someone move a fridge, or show up to change your windshield wipers without hesitation. He always made sure strangers felt welcome and everyone felt included. Derrick is predeceased by his father Kelly and his grandmother Helen (Guggy).
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Drumheller Stampede Barn.
A Memorial Hockey Tournament will take place on January 31, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Munson ODR.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brayden’s GoFundMe in support of her during this difficult time:
