Dennis Edwards Obituary

Dennis Allan Edwards

76 years old

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Papa Dennis Allan Edwards on October 8, 2024 in Leduc Alberta.

Dennis was born in Stettler Alberta on September 1, 1948, to Anna and Walter Gerald “Jerry” Edwards. He was the second oldest of four children who grew up on the family farm just south of Big Valley Alberta. When Dennis left the farm, he went to work in the oilfield in the NWT’s and then met and married his wife Jo-Ann in 1973. Dennis and Jo-Ann started a family in 1975, and Dennis began his career as a Corrections Officer at the Drumheller Penitentiary in 1976 where he continued to work for 30 years until retiring. Dennis enjoyed camping, road trips, shooting, airplanes and almost everything the history channel knew, he knew too.

Nothing in this world made Dennis happier than being a Papa. He poured his heart and soul into making sure his grandchildren had the best time at Papa and Nana’s acreage. Whether he was building questionably safe playground equipment, teaching them how to drive, teaching them how to shoot and how to make sure a weapon is unloaded before storing it, to the smallest things like making dunky eggs, jello, or peaches and cream for them, he did them all with the same level of excitement because it was for his grandkids.

Dennis is survived by his wife Jo-Ann Edwards of Kamloops BC, his daughter Rausheen Johnston of Kamloops BC, his daughter Meghan (Chad) Lowes of Parkland County Alberta, his grandchildren Brieanne (Phil) Anderson, Caleb Johnston (Clara Emond), Brennan Lowes (Cole Smethurst), Jason Johnston, Brycen Lowes (Arwen Nagel), Laela Johnston and Keyveon Lowes. His sister Susan (Brad Ward) Edwards, brother Gerald (Vickie) Edwards. As well as his nine nieces and their families, and cousins.

Dennis is predeceased by his parents Anna and Jerry Edwards, his sister Jackie Wright and his best friend Max.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association of Canada.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE - will be held @ COURTNEY-WINTER'S FUNERAL HOME (199 - Second Street West) on Saturday, November 9th, 2024 @ 1:00 P.M. in Drumheller, Alta.
