In Loving Memory of David Watkin
It is with our deep sadness that we share the passing of our Papa and father, David “Dave” Frank Watkin on June 22, 2026, at his home in Lacombe, Alberta, at the age of 84.
Dave was born on July 15, 1942, in Drumheller, Alberta, to Lucriatia Elizabeth Grisdale and John Fred Watkin. A few years later, they welcomed his sister, Judith Ann. Dave was predeceased by his beloved wife Maxine, son Fred, his parents, and his sister Judith Ann.
Dave met Maxine (Fano) of Hanna, Alberta, and together they built a life in Drumheller, where they had two kids, and became active members of the community. Dave worked as a drivers examiner and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, and The Kinsmen Club of Drumheller.
Family was the most important thing in Dave's life. He loved being a "Papa" to his three grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them. His years in Drumheller with Maxine were filled with hosting gatherings and filling their home with the people they loved. They took great pride in their garden, where they spent all of their summer days together.
Dave is survived by his daughter Shawna (Jason), and his grandchildren Cole (Britney), Sasha (Kelly), and Connor (Ally).
Dave will be remembered for his steady presence, his sense of humour, and the love he had for his family.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with Dave's wishes, there will be no formal service. A private family gathering will be held to celebrate his life, and he will be laid to rest with his wife and son.
