Charmaine Moffatt Obituary

Charmaine Moffatt (née Cummings), of Drumheller, departed for the heavens on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the milestone age of 95. She left quickly and peacefully, with no suffering, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

It's hard to find a kinder, gentler soul than Charmaine. She lived her life to the fullest, right up to the last day.

Early Life and Family

Charmaine was born in the summer of 1930 in Winnipeg, the first sibling in a family of 14. She was raised on a rural farm and often spoke fondly of her childhood in later years.

She met her loving husband, James (Jim), in 1950, and they were married in April 1951. This proved to be a fortuitous event, as Jim's posting overseas with the Canadian Military fueled Charmaine's lifelong love of travel and learning about new cultures.

A Life of Travel and Adventure

They certainly did travel! Their adventures took them to many places, including Calgary, Germany, Victoria, Whitehorse, Calgary, Germany again, Wainwright, and finally back to Calgary before coming to rest in Drumheller in May 1981. Charmaine often reflected on "the sights we saw and the things we did and adventures we had."

She kept up traveling all her life, with her last road trip taking place the day before she passed. She was always ready for the next destination, asking, "Let me get my coat," and, "Where are we going next?" Happy memories, indeed.

Faith and Community Service

Her Catholic Faith was the strongest element in her life, unobtrusively woven into the fabric of her being. She enjoyed church and the lifelong friends she made there.

As other facets of her benevolent life, she was:

· Active in the Catholic Women's League (CWL).

· Volunteered for years with Victim Services.

· Worked at the Penitentiary school for a long time, where she helped and taught.

Charmaine was also a huge reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and she always enjoyed watching nature programs.

Legacy

Charmaine was more than private. All her friends, family, and acquaintances were privileged to have had her on loan from Heaven for so long. She was an AMAZING lady right until the Lord called her back.

Her absence will be felt everyday by:

· Her son, Michael.

· Her daughter, Beryl (Cecil).

· Her grandsons, James (Lisa) and Jeffery (Brittany).

· As well as her best friend, Maria.

· All the other "Church ladies" and friends.

· Her other relatives and friends and acquaintances
