Bonita Marie Gordon (Fox)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bonita (Bonnie) Marie Gordon of Drumheller, Alberta beloved wife of the late John W. (Jack) Gordon.

Bonnie was born in her family home in Carbon, Alberta to Ernest and Lily (Gieck) Fox.  She was raised there with her younger sister Dixie.  Bonnie was active in school sports and excelled in her studies.  She went on to attend Key Secretarial School in Red Deer, later gained employment with the Attorney General’s Office in Calgary.  After moving to Hinton for work at the Forestry Office for a short period, Bonnie returned to Carbon where she would meet her future husband Jack.  They were married in 1975, the two would go on to raise three boys, Scott, Colin and James on the Gordon family farm west of Carbon.  Aside from daily farm chores, Bonnie would keep the boys busy weeding gardens, picking saskatoons in the fall and shuffling them about year-round for various sporting activities.  She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, and was an active member of the Carbon United church.  After Church, Sundays were spent poking around her parent’s garden down the street, playing cards or preparing a Sunday dinner.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Lily Fox, her husband Jack, and her son Scott.

After a lengthy struggle with M.S. she came to reside at the Long Term Care in the Drumheller Health Centre where she would succumb to cancer and leave to mourn her two remaining sons, Colin and James Gordon, sister Dixie (Ken) McLeod, nieces Kristy and Karen McLeod, nephew Rob (Jen) McLeod of Delta, B.C., grandchildren Brooke, James and Kyle, great grandson Gabe of B.C., grandson Joel and granddaughter Paige of Blackfalds, AB, grandson Anthony of Calgary and grandson Caleb of Canmore, AB.  Numerous other family members also surviving.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Carbon, Alberta.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the MS Society of Canada.
