It is with great sadness we announce the passing of the man known to many as Dad, Poppa, Bald Poppa and Uncle Johnnie. John is survived by his loving wife Shelley (Dolphin), daughter Diana, sons Jim (Maryann) and John and daughter Deborah (Rob). John is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as sisters Betty Jorsvick, Elsie Larose, Linda Helmer and brother Richard (Mavis) and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Extended family Ray Vermette (sons Rod and Shane) and Wendy (Dale) Yearous.
John was predeceased by his wife Eve (nee Thompson) and sons Gordon and Ted, sisters, Laura (Harold), Helen (Leonard), Clara (Vance) Alma (Bob) and brothers Colin (Irene) and Georgie.
John's passions in life included a vast array of interests and careers including mechanics, pipelining, driving a grader and backhoe as well as driving cats, woodworking and gardening. He loved to travel and fish. His love for music orchestrating chataguas, musicals, talent contests. He loved the time spent with family, friends and neighbours visiting and playing cards.
Gone but will always be remembered as a man that was a hard worker that would always lend a hand to any in need.
A Service of Remembrance for John will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Salvation Army Community Church, Drumheller, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army and or the Drumheller Health Centre.
