Donald (Don) Dart Obituary

 

Donald Stephen Dart of Drumheller, beloved husband of Adrienne Dart passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the age of 80 years.

Don was born on October 3, 1939 to Stephen and Annie Dart.  His schooling began in Rosedale, continued in Drumheller and finished with the completion of a SAIT Mechanics Apprenticeship program with Westergard Motors.  In 1964, Don moved to practice his trade at Valley Esso.   From there he launched his own adventure with Super Shell Service until he sold it in 1981.  The next 16 years Don worked in the oil industry for Mark Resources. Never short of pursuing ideas, He owned and operated a pump repair and a compression rental business with his partner Jeff Paarup. 

Don and Adrienne started their married life together on November 21, 1964 and from there they loved and raised their three children in Drumheller.

Don was involved with many community organizations over the years, Kinsmen, K-40, Little Fish Lake Association and served on the board of the Homestead Museum.   Don’s hobbies included his love of motorcycles, cars and ski-doos. He participated in many motorcycle hill climb competitions and numerous snow mobile races. One of the highlights was winning the 2-man team category in the snowmobile race from Drumheller to Red Deer.

Everyone knew he had a love for Fish Lake.  He enjoyed his friends and the cabin he built with his family. 

Besides his loving wife Adrienne, Don leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Michelle (Darren Wagner), two sons, Dave (Doreen) and Bob, and grandchildren, Mason & Jordan Wagner, Ryan, Grayson, & McKenzie Dart and Darian Dart.

Don was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Annie Dart.

Prayer Vigil will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Funeral Mass will be held Saturday January 18, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, interment to follow at the Drumheller Cemetery. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Homestead Museum or the Drumheller Area Health Foundation (Palliative Care).
